Faction Shards & Lockboxes

The heart of the player-to-player trading economy revolves around collecting Faction Shards to craft Faction Lockboxes, which hold large amounts of $ALLOY. This system is designed to encourage strategic specialization, cooperation, and a lively external market.

There are four Faction Shards to collect, each tied to one of the game's core factions: The Forge, Verdant Vanguard, Echelon of Eternity, and The Helix Institute.

Step 1 - Find Faction Shards:

There are three distinct paths to acquiring these valuable NFTs:

• The Initiate's Path: As an Initiated Raider, raid the Fairwater and Cliffside maps to find and unlock Council Caches. These have a chance to contain a random Faction Shard alongside $ALLOY.

• The Stalker's Path: If you do not have an Initiate NFT, your path is more direct and dangerous. Hunt down other players who may be carrying Faction Shards and $ALLOY and take them by force. In the wasteland, every player is a potential treasure chest if you are strong enough for a challenging duel.

  • The Merchant’s Path: Players without an Initiate's Mark NFT can trade for shards on external NFT marketplaces to craft lockboxes and then sell them to Diffusion Drive owners.

Step 2 - Specialize and Trade

Shard drops are random, meaning you will naturally accumulate a mix from all four factions. While you need six shards of the same faction to craft a lockbox, this randomness presents a strategic opportunity. Instead of slowly collecting six of every type, you can specialize. For example, if you decide to focus on crafting Forged Faction Lockboxes, you can trade your Verdant, Echelon, and Helix Faction Shards with other players on an external NFT marketplace to acquire more Forged Shards. This allows you to craft the lockboxes you want faster, while creating a vibrant player-driven market for these assets.

Step 3 - Craft a Faction Lockbox: Once you have collected six shards of the same faction, you can combine them to craft a Faction Lockbox NFT in one of the modules of your Hideout - the Biolab Module. This Lockbox is your key to a significant payload of $ALLOY.
